Early literacy was on full display during the Kindergarten Letter Parade at Pritchett Elementary! 🎒

Our kindergarteners showed off their letter posters during a school-wide march in front of families, staff, and classmates. The parade celebrated a major milestone: learning all 26 letter names and their corresponding sounds, while bringing our entire school community together! 📣

Families gathered under the stars for the PTO’s Family Movie Night, enjoying the company of a beautiful night of outdoor entertainment and school spirit.

The well-attended event provided a wonderful opportunity for students, parents, and staff to connect outside the classroom. A special thank you goes out to the Movie Night committee for their hard work in planning and organizing such a successful, memorable evening for the school community!

Mrs. Fasuna’s 3rd graders brought math to life as they explored foundational multiplication concepts through visual representations! 🧠💡

Working through real-world scenarios, drawings, and diagrams, students created equal groups to model and truly understand how multiplication works beyond the numbers. Following the hands-on lesson, classmates paired up to play math games, building fact fluency and teamwork skills in an interactive environment! 🎲🤝

Ten Apples Up On Top in Kindergarten! 🍎🍏✨
Mrs. Iacullo’s kindergarteners at Tripp welcomed the autumn season with a craft inspired by the classic book, "Ten Apples Up On Top!" 📚🍂

Later, they practiced one-to-one counting by arranging their apples using an AB color pattern before gluing them in a tall stack right above a photo of themselves—just like the characters in the book!

8th-Grade Band Rocked Pop Tune Friday! 🎷🥁🎸
Our 8th-grade band at AJHS brought big energy to "Pop Tune Friday" as they geared up for a busy performance season! 🎶✨

Students practiced crowd-pleasing arrangements like "Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd and "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osbourne for two upcoming events: playing at a Chicago Wolves game in February and performing at Pritchett Elementary's Veterans Day assembly! 🐺🇺🇸

AJHS musicians are thrilled to visit Pritchett, with one student sharing they are excited "to honor our grandparents," and another adding, "We will inspire the kids at Pritchett to want to play an instrument in the future." 🎺❤️

Mrs. Dion’s kindergarteners have a very special weekend guest traveling from home to home this year—a stuffed Minion! 💛

Each week, a new student gets to take the Minion on an adventure and record their fun on a journal page, which is later shared with the class. Each page is added to a growing memory book that travels back and forth among all the families. So far, the Minion's travels have included scenic neighborhood strolls and the Buffalo Grove parade! 📸 Students return to school proud to share their experience with the class Minion!

Our 5th-grade artists kicked off an exciting multi-phase mixed-media collage project with art teacher Mr. Soto!. Students applied the Zentangle Method to create intricate, patterned designs. Fourteen student leaders from Stevenson High School’s FIRE Club recently visited AJHS to lead an empowering whole-school assembly! The presentation equipped our middle schoolers with practical, actionable tools to stand up for others and foster an inclusive school culture. 🤝

Students learned the "Speak Up Protocol"—a four-step strategy to Interrupt, Question, Educate, and Echo whenever they witness unkindness or exclusion.

This was a full-circle moment for the high school mentors, too! Eight of the 14 Stevenson students proudly shared that they first joined FIRE after experiencing this same assembly during their own middle school years right here at AJHS. 🎓📣✨

Our 6th-grade engineering students just wrapped up their first major project: designing and constructing 1:10 scale model bike racks customized to match the branding and aesthetic of a business of their choice! 📐🚲

Students conducted market research, sketched initial ideas, managed budget sheets, and built functional prototypes. The project concluded with an exciting gallery walk where students presented their final models and received constructive feedback from their peers! 🛠️💬
