Math meets the ultimate balancing act! 🧱🔢

Mrs. Solvsberg’s 4th graders turned a complex lesson into a high-stakes adventure with Rounding Jenga. To earn a move, students had to correctly round large numbers while their teammates verified the answers. This transformed a challenging math hour into a masterclass in collaborative problem-solving. 🧠✨

In honor of 🌟Black History Month, 🌟the Black Tranquility Group hosted Buffalo Grove Police Officer Malcolm Baker for an afternoon of connection and storytelling.

📣🌟Officer Baker, a 21-year veteran, shared his personal journey into law enforcement while emphasizing the importance of perseverance, integrity, and service. He encouraged students to lead by example and remain positive, active voices within their community.

We are so grateful for Officer Baker’s mentorship and the way his visit left our students motivated to lead with purpose throughout February and beyond. 🌟

Your input is vital! Please take the 5Essentials parent survey to help D102 improve! The survey is open until March 28.

Each year, D102 participates in the 5Essentials Survey, a valuable tool developed by the University of Chicago Consortium on School Research. This survey helps us assess our school climate and culture by collecting feedback from students, teachers, and parents. We strongly encourage families to take a few minutes to complete this online parent survey. The results of the parent portion of this survey are only able to be utilized if we have enough participation. Please take the survey here: https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/

🔬 Future Scientists in the Making! 🌟
Science came to life at Pritchett! Kindergartners had the incredible opportunity to explore the wonders of physics during a special visit from a very special guest: Dr. Carolyn Tomchik. 👩‍🔬✨

🧪💨As a Principal Nuclear Engineer at Argonne National Laboratory (and a proud Pritchett kindergarten mom!), Dr. Tomchik led our young researchers through hands-on experiments to investigate complex concepts like friction, inertia, and Bernoulli’s principle.

Our students participated by making predictions and tested their ideas through interactive demonstrations. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, Dr. Tomchik!

The AJHS Robotics Club is officially reaching new heights! We are incredibly proud to announce that our very own Cybertronic (7th grade) and Titans (8th grade) showcased their incredible talent at the FIRST Lego League (FLL) State Championships in Elgin. 🏆

Out of 60 elite teams from across Illinois, both D102 squads earned an invitation to the National Championships this May!

🏆 State Championship Highlights:
The Titans: Secured the prestigious 3rd Place Champions Award, ranking them as the #3 team in the entire state! 🥉

Cybertronic: Took home the 3rd Place Core Values Award, a major honor recognizing their extraordinary teamwork, inclusion, and "Gracious Professionalism." 🤝

This success is the result of hundreds of hours of work. Since August, these students have navigated some complex coding hurdles and mechanical failures under pressure. Their flexibility and ability to improve is what makes them true champions.
