🤖 Robotics Excellence: D102 Teams Punch Ticket to Nationals!
The AJHS Robotics Club is officially reaching new heights! We are incredibly proud to announce that our very own Cybertronic (7th grade) and Titans (8th grade) showcased their incredible talent at the FIRST Lego League (FLL) State Championships in Elgin. 🏆

Out of 60 elite teams from across Illinois, both D102 squads earned an invitation to the National Championships this May!

🏆 State Championship Highlights:
The Titans: Secured the prestigious 3rd Place Champions Award, ranking them as the #3 team in the entire state! 🥉

Cybertronic: Took home the 3rd Place Core Values Award, a major honor recognizing their extraordinary teamwork, inclusion, and "Gracious Professionalism." 🤝

This success is the result of hundreds of hours of work. Since August, these students have navigated some complex coding hurdles and mechanical failures under pressure. Their flexibility and ability to improve is what makes them true champions.

Unearthing history at Pritchett! 🦴🔍

The Pritchett library was buzzing with excitement as our Panther families dove into the life of Mary Anning at our latest Family Book Club! 📚✨

After reading "Dragon Bones": The Fantastic Fossil Discoveries of Mary Anning, our students stepped into the shoes of paleontologists. From hands-on fossil digs and creative art projects to sketching real fossil casts on loan from the Raupp Museum, it was an evening filled with curiosity and connection with families. 🎨🦖

Thanks to Ms. Boznos and Ms. Blair for organizing such a fun event!

Books come to life at Meridian! 📚✨

Our families recently dived into the 2026 Bluestem title "Dogtown" by Katherine Applegate & Gennifer Choldenko. After a great discussion and reading an interview with the authors, we welcomed back a very special guest, former Meridian teacher, Cheri Brill! 🍎

Inspired by the book’s animal shelter setting, Mrs. Brill shared the inspiring work done by Orphans of the Storm. To wrap up the night, students and parents put their reading into action by crafting handmade fleece toys to be donated to the shelter pets. 🐾✂️

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this wonderful night of literacy and service!

Due to the forecasted winter weather conditions, all D102 schools and offices will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 23, 2026.

While our buildings are closed, the learning doesn't stop! 💻 We will be moving to E-Learning for the day.

Parents, please check your email for an official message from Dr. McIntyre with details about the E-Learning day.

Note: All after-school activities and programs are cancelled, including Clubhouse.

Stay safe and warm, D102! We look forward to seeing everyone back in person soon. ⛄️📚

8th graders in health class are stepping up as "first responders" this week! 🚑💪

While this unit isn't about official certification, it’s all about building the confidence to act when it matters most. Students practiced identifying signs of medical distress and knowing exactly who to call. Most importantly, they’re learning how to manage the "freeze" response and ease anxiety during an emergency. Seeing our students develop these life-saving skills is a true reflection of our commitment to preparing them for the real world. 🧠✨

🎨 Tripp Artists in Action! 🌳✨

Our Tripp art students have been busy exploring the magic of color theory through these vibrant watercolor trees! They started with bold black ink for the trunks to create a sharp contrast before diving into their paints. 🖌️

It was great to see them experiment with primary and secondary colors to decide on a "warm" or "cool" vibe for their landscapes. They learned how a simple change in palette can completely shift the mood of their work! 🌈🙌
