Life is like a camera. Just focus on what’s important and capture the good times, develop from the negatives and if things don’t work out, just take another shot.” Mr. Michels has worked in District 102 since 1998. Moving up through the ranks, Mr. Michels began his career as an Aptakisic Junior High School Social Studies teacher in 1998. Mr. Michels spent 11 years at the junior high before leaving his assistant principal position to become a Co-Principal at Tripp Elementary School in 2009 and then Principal at Meridian School in 2016. Interestingly, Mr. Michels is a local Buffalo Grove product, having graduated from District 102 and from Adali E. Stevenson High School. Mr. Michels is passionate about helping everyone to be as successful as possible and school safety. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and History from Northern Illinois University, a Master of Arts in School Administration from National Louis University, and his Educational Specialists Degree from Northern Illinois University.

Sadie Meyer began her career in District 102 as a student teacher at Tripp Elementary School under the mentorship of Mrs. Laura Iacullo. She then spent five years teaching first grade at Pritchett Elementary, followed by five years in kindergarten. Mrs. Meyer later transitioned to special education, where she has served for the past three years.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University and a master’s degree from Dominican University. In addition, she earned her Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) certification from the University of St. Francis, as well as English Learner (EL) and Principal certifications from the American College of Education.

Mrs. Meyer is guided by the philosophy that “No significant learning occurs without a significant relationship” (Dr. James Comer). In every role she has held within District 102, she has worked with dedication and intention to bring this belief to life.
