District 102 officially unveiled our guiding theme for the school year: COMMITMENT.

Dr. Sostak, Associate Superintendent for Learning and Growth, introduced this central focus as our shared promise to our students, colleagues, and community. Commitment is the quiet, unshakeable decision to stay the course through the persistent work of showing up each day to shape a meaningful future. 🧠🌱

To bring this focus to life, every staff member was given molding clay to craft a personal token as a lasting reminder of their dedication. Working with clay teaches us to collaborate, build on what we know, and embrace mistakes as part of the process. 🧱🎨

Superintendent Dr. McIntyre emphasized that, much like an artist molding a masterpiece, our daily choices actively shape our new Strategic Vision into reality for every learner. 🌟🦅

Join us in committing to another extraordinary year of growth and connection! 💙💛

Drop a 👏 in the comments if you are ready to commit to a great year!

The hallways are quiet... a little too quiet. 🤫✨

Our glowing neon stick-people are doing their best to fill in, but let’s be honest: these classrooms aren’t the same without the energy and smiles from our D102 students!

We miss them so much, and we can’t wait to bring these rooms back to life.

The wait is almost over. The first day of school for grades 1-8 is NEXT WEEK, Thursday, August 20! The first day of school for EC-K is Tuesday, August 25.

See you all soon! ✏️📚✨

Our Early Childhood families recently joined us for "The Beauty is in the Process," an event centered on the joy of creative exploration! 🎨 Families visited various stations to experience the difference between product and process art firsthand. It was wonderful to see the recycled art collaborations between our EC students and their 5th-grade buddies on full display. ✨ Our youngest learners were so proud to lead their parents through their classrooms and showcase their amazing growth and capabilities. 🏫🌟

NFL Star Maema Njongmeta Inspires AJHS! 🏈🎺
It was an incredible day at AJHS as we welcomed back one of our own! Alumni and current NFL linebacker Maema Njongmeta visited our students to share his inspiring journey from our hallways to the professional turf. 🏟️✨

Njongmeta took a trip down memory lane, reminiscing about playing the trumpet in Mrs. Rakickas’s class (who is still rocking it as our band teacher today! 🎶). Now a member of the Carolina Panthers 🐈‍⬛ (and formerly of the Cincinnati Bengals), he spoke candidly about what it takes to reach the highest level of athletics.

Beyond football, Njongmeta emphasized the power of mental fortitude and community. He left our students with powerful words to live by, like "Speak life into yourself" and "Engage with the people who believe in you." 🗣️✨

The visit wrapped up with a Q&A where students got to connect personally with a pro! Thank you, Maema, for providing our students with a roadmap to tackle their goals with confidence! 🙌

🎨 Recycled Art in Early Childhood! 🌍
Our EC students turned "trash" into treasure! ✨ Through their recent recycling unit, students used cardboard boxes, paper rolls, and old magazines to create one-of-a-kind masterpieces. 📦🗞️🖌️

By gluing and painting these everyday items, our little artists learned how to reuse instead of throw away, all while teaching the importance of protecting our Earth! ♻️🌱

The kids were so proud to see their creative ideas come to life! 🙌🌟
