Aptakisic Junior High School recently welcomed back alumnus and NFL linebacker Maema Njongmeta for a powerful presentation on resilience and personal growth. Njongmeta, who has played for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Carolina Panthers, shared a nostalgic homecoming by reflecting on his time in Mrs. Rakickas’s band class—a reminder that the journey to professional success often begins in the local classroom.
Throughout the visit, Njongmeta spoke candidly about the discipline required to compete at the highest level of athletics. He addressed the various roadblocks he faced along the way, emphasizing how he successfully balanced his habits, passions, and priorities to overcome adversity. Beyond physical training, he highlighted the necessity of mental fortitude, urging students to "speak life" into themselves and surround themselves with a supportive community.
The visit concluded with a personal Q&A session, leaving students with a practical roadmap for pursuing their own ambitions. District 102 is incredibly proud of Maema’s achievements and grateful for his dedication to mentoring the next generation of AJHS leaders.
