Assessment
District 102's powerful mission: Empower All Learners to Excel, is more than a motto. We are learner-focused and use assessment of learning and for learning to determine the best course of action for every child. We use performance assessments within each unit of study to assess deep understanding of content, and benchmark assessments to assess critical skills in reading and math. New for the 2009-2010 school year is the development of common assessments aligned with State Learning Standards in Writing. In addition, we administer the state mandated ISAT test to students in all grades 3 through 8. Fourth and seventh grade students, in addition to Reading and Math, are also tested on Science concepts. All other grades are tested in Reading, Mathematics, and Writing.Core Program and Intervention
All of our general education programs have been upgraded in the past three years, are research-based, and include state of art instructional technology components. In addition, we have supplemental programs and at least two interventionists with additional supplemental programs to meet the needs of student who may not be progressing in the general curriculum as same age peers. We call this added value, Response to Intervention, or RTI. All of our students in grades EC - 8 are screened in critical areas of instruction three times per year. We respond to this data instructionally after careful analysis by our teams. These assessments are sensitive to changes and can be administered for ongoing progress monitoring. More important to us than the mandated State test, is our own system of assessment to guide instruction.AIMSWEB: Reading and Math
Measures of Academic Performance (MAP)
We administer MAP twice per year. Teachers use the MAP test to determine instructional level, predict ISAT performance, and to inform instruction.Click to read more on MAP Testing from a parent's perspective.
ISAT Test
We administer the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) to students once per year in grades 3-8. All grades take tests in reading and math and certain grades are also tested in science and writing. Aptakisic-Tripp CCSD 102 is making great strides. District 102 has been recognized for academic excellence which requires at least 90% of students to meet or exceed state standards both in reading and in mathematics for at least 3 consecutive years. District 102 is about to enter its fifth consecutive year earning this honor.
