PES - Thanks for the Memories, Fourth-Graders!

On Thursday, May 22, our fourth-grade students put on an incredible concert! Special thanks to Mrs. Rosemary Nelson and the fourth-grade staff for a truly memorable evening. Children shared their love of music through a variety of heartfelt songs. Throughout the performance individuals reflected on their years at Pritchett School and also shared "Words of Wisdom" with the younger members of the audience. The night concluded with a touching slideshow created by Ms. Diana Hachikian. The presentation, set to music, captured the children's growth throughout their 5 years at Pritchett. We are proud of our fourth-graders and wish them the best of luck at Meridian Middle School!

Schools Required to Post New Sign at Entrances

Please do not be alarmed at the new signs posted at school entrance doors. By law, owners of any "statutorily prohibited area or private property" (like schools, parks, courts and public transit) are required to clearly display the official "no guns allowed" signage provided by the Illinois State Police.

Pritchett kicks off the year with "Bucket Filling" Assembly

This past Wednesday, August 28, Pritchett held an all school assembly based on the book "Have you Filled a Bucket Today: A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids" by Carol McCloud. The concept of bucket-filling is a metaphor for the idea that expressing kindness and love towards others helps us experience pride and satisfaction and ultimately lead happier and more confident lives; in contrast, when we put others down, act like a bully, or leave someone out, we become a "bucket dipper." As the assembly concluded, students were challenged to go home and intentionally fill a family member's bucket and then report back to their classmates and teacher upon returning to school. For more information, please visit the website at www.bucketfillers101.com.

Student Drop-off Reminders

Student safety is a core value at Pritchett School. In an effort to improve the safety and traffic flow in and out of the school please review our drop-off and pick-up procedures.

Child Drop-Off will occur in the parking lot on the south side of the building by the main Entrance (See map in "PES DOWNLOADS"). Parents will enter the parking lot from Horatio and proceed to the Vehicle Staging Area located along the north curb adjacent to the school. A staff member will function as a Traffic Flow controller directing all vehicles dropping off and picking up children. Pay attention to the Flow Controller. The Flow Controller will direct all Traffic in the Vehicle Staging Area up to the Drop-Off Area.

* Please say your goodbyes in the Vehicle Staging Area, and be ready to exit at the Drop-Off location. Upon entering the Child Drop-Off area, a staff member will open your car door and direct the child to the appropriate destination.

* Do not let your children out of the car until a staff member has opened your door.

* Drivers must remain in their vehicle. If you choose to park, the Flow Controller will direct you to Pritchett’s back parking lot area. After drop-off, proceed out of the parking lot making a RIGHT TURN ONLY onto Horatio.
