PES - Here Comes 2015!

This will be my last formal communication to you for 2014. As we work towards December 19, our last day before break, we take time to celebrate this year and all the wonderful moments we shared with children and families. Looking forward to 2015, we wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year and know that sharing our lives (parents and teachers) with such wonderful children makes each of us very rich indeed. Take time to reflect on childhood, its joys and challenges. Children are little for such a short time; savor the moment!

Our school will re-open on January 5. As a reminder, you can find school closing information on the district’s home page. In addition, if Pritchett is closed, an automated phone call will be made to the child’s home to notify parents.

For your children,

Matt K. Moreland, Ed. D.

PES - December Notes for Pritchett's Nurse

As the weather is getting colder we respectfully ask that your children wear appropriate attire.  Students will be going outside for recess as much as possible. Please refer to the Student Handbook.

PES - Thanks for a Great Parent/Teacher Conference!

We were delighted to have had an opportunity to meet with you and discuss the progress the children have been making. Your commitment of time and your willingness to partner with staff made the conference period a valuable experience. Thank you one and all!

The question of “what to do?” with an area in need of strengthening is always an important one. If a skill is not in place, practice is the most common remedy followed second by effort. Some students need to practice more than others. This is not a function of intelligence as much as that of learning style. Math fact practice is essential for mastery. Spelling practice and editing are the keys to becoming a good speller. Reading is the only way to become a good reader.

The success of all students is our goal. I know that the success of your child is your goal. Thank you again for continuing to play a critical role in your child's development.

Schools Required to Post New Sign at Entrances

Please do not be alarmed at the new signs posted at school entrance doors. By law, owners of any "statutorily prohibited area or private property" (like schools, parks, courts and public transit) are required to clearly display the official "no guns allowed" signage provided by the Illinois State Police.
