There are two ways to amplify sound coming from your computer:

Note:  Promethean boards installed in Special Ed. rooms in the winter of 09/10, in K-4 classrooms in Summer of 2010, and 5-8 classrooms in Summer 2011 have built-in speakers.

  1. Through the Promethean board's built-in speakers:  When you connect the board's USB cable to your computer, you can send sound to the board's speakers.
  2. Through the projector's built-in speaker:  By connecting the small audio cable (which is part of the thick, black video cable) to the headphone jack of your laptop, you can send sound to the projector's speaker.

Playing sound through the projector's speaker

To play computer sound through the projector's speaker, plug the small audio cable, which is part of the projector's video cable, into the headphone jack of your laptop:

Note:  In addition to your computer's volume control, you may need to adjust the volume on the projector using the "Vol+" and "Vol-" buttons on your remote control.

  1. Make sure the USB cable from your board is connected to your computer.
  2. Select the "Promethean USB" as the device for sound output in the Sound System Preference pane.

  1. Make sure the push-button on the left side of the Promethean board is on (small green light) and the volume is set to the correct level.
  2. Make sure the volume on your laptop is not muted or too low.
