Aptakisic Junior High Science Fair students have much to be proud of after their terrific presentations at both the Region Six Paper and Project Sessions. Three students presented experiments in the Paper Session portion of the Regional Fair held at Oak Grove School north of Libertyville.
There were a total of 44 student-designed experiments presented. All three of our students earned gold and an invitation to present their papers at the State Science Fair on May 6 held at the University of Illinois. On an individual level, Anvesh Jalasutrum was awarded the William Gonos award for best paper at the junior high level receiving a plaque and $50.
Ten AJHS students joined nearly 540 other students, 7th grade through seniors in high school, at Christian Liberty Academy in Arlington Heights, to present experiments in the Project Session portion of the regional fair. Out of 489 projects, 202 projects earned gold awards, of which our students earned six. All of these students are invited to present their projects at the state fair. One student’s project earned a high silver award and is also invited to state. One partner project earned a bronze award.
Our school received an additional honor. Aptakisic is in a category representing the largest junior high student population, greater than 450 students. Of all the schools in that category, for the entire region, our school finished third at the fair and received a trophy.
