To maintain the excitement for the new school year, students had the opportunity to meet next year's grade level teachers at each of the District 102 schools.
The transition from one grade level to the next is a perfect opportunity to provide students with leadership experience. Older grade-level students took on the role of teacher and expert in explaining "what to expect" to incoming grade-level students at the recent Tripp and Pritchett Elementary Schools' transition events. Children's current teachers escorted students as they rotated through each new grade-level classroom. Students were introduced to each new grade-level teacher and paired with an older student. The older children showed great pride in sharing tips, showing books and examples of projects, as well as providing detailed classroom tours to the younger peers. They explained what to expect in language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science.
