Dembo Presents Positive and Negative Practices of Social Networking to Meridian Middle School Students

BASIC (formerly CODE) recently sponsored assemblies with fifth and sixth graders at Meridian Middle School. Steve Dembo from Discovery Education presented to each grade level on the topic of Social Networking.

He shared the positive and negative practices in place today and how to prepare for a future in a global networked society.

Thanks are expressed for the ongoing effort of the D102 PTO in collaboration with the Division of Teaching and Learning to offer continual and far-reaching support for developing digital citizenship skills. The BASIC Awareness Program addresses elements of the C.O.D.E. Program with additional emphasis designed to provide timely and effective opportunities for students in the areas of texting, social networking, and cyberbullying. The new acronym, BASIC, stands for  Bullying, Alcohol and Drugs, Social Networking, Internet Safety, Cell Phone and Texting.
