In May, 40 members of the Tripp Tiger Book Club participated in a competition modeled after Rebecca Caudill where students vote for their favorite book.
This club is similar in that during the course of the school year students read books from a list, except this list is called the Blue Stem Nominee list. On May 6, the students gathered at Tripp using an Interactive Whiteboard to facilitate participation in the competition. The competition was run using Active Expressions software as the students "texted" in their answers to 20 book related questions. This personalized event built upon student strengths and passions allowing for accelerated learning opportunities. Teachers and students responded with an overwhelming, "It was a blast!"
