Recently, family, friends, and current and former district staff
remembered Sara Shulman at a 10 year Celebration of Sara's Corner.
Sara was a second grader at Tripp Elementary
School when she passed away in December of 2000. Her Tripp classmates
are now seniors at Stevenson High School. They huddled together
Thursday night on Tripp couches, known affectionately as "Sara's
Corner," and shared memories with Caryn Shulman, Sara's mom.
In
January 2001, Sara's classmates wrote and illustrated a memory book
about how special Sara was to them. As they leafed through this book
once again, they reminisced about their fun play dates with Sara and how
much Sara loved everyone. "The community really pulled together during a
difficult time," notes former Superintendent Dr. Doug Parks who was in
attendance, along with Sara's principal Dr. Vivian Powers-Richard and
some of her teachers.
