Presents Social Emotional Learning: The Foundation forYour ChildŐs Success in School,Work & Life Presented By: Clark McKown, Ph.D. an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Behavioral Sciences at Rush University Medical Center and the Associate Executive Director of the Rush NeuroBehavioral Center. Description of Workshop: Come learn more about the ability to interact well with others, to make and keep friends, and to earn peers' acceptance are important to children's well-being. Compared to children who are accepted by peers and who have at least one good friend, children who are rejected by peers are at high risk for a number of problems. Children's social-emotional learning skill, including their ability to read nonverbal behavior, infer others' intentions, and engage in effective problem- solving, is associated with peer acceptance. Dr. McKown will describe the skills children need to acquire to achieve social success.
